Yasugi, which developed from an iron shipping port to a steel town, has produced many cultural figures since ancient times.
On this course, you will walk with a navigator through the port and cityscape, visiting places associated with cultural figures.

Yasugi Station
In front of the station, there is a monument to the Kitamaebune, which operated during the era when Yasugi Port flourished as a shipping port.

Matsue Domain Ochaya Palace Ruins
In the Edo period, this site was used as a dormitory for the lord of the Matsue domain when it was time for the daimyo's kotai or for officials to patrol the territory.

Yonehara Unkai birthplace
The birthplace of Mr. Yonehara, an artist who took the world of sculpture by storm in the Meiji era.

Yasugi Port/Mt. Togami
Yasugi Port was once used as a shipping port for iron and was bustling with Kitamaebune ships.
Mt. Tokami is located in a position that juts out to the eastern part of the port. The mountain is so familiar to local residents that it appears in a section of Yasugi Bushi.

Yasugikokan Ipputei
An exchange base facility that has been renovated from one of the city's leading commercial sites. Built in the latter half of the Meiji period, it is over 100 years old.

Birthplace of Kanjiro Kawai
The birthplace of Kanjiro Kawai, a potter who founded the Mingei movement during the Taisho era.
