It was built in the Meiji period in honor of Shikanosuke at the ruin of Gassan Toda Castle Honmaru.
The letters on the monument are Army Major Nobuatsu Kumagai, and Chinese scholar, Michi Yamaguchi made letters. Both are from Shimane Prefecture.
