Uyuni Salt Lake! A huge water mirror formed at the mouth of a river
If you go to the mouth of the Iinashi River, which flows into Nakaumi, when the air is clear and there is no wind, the surface of the water looks like a mirror. The scenery that reflects the sky and the Shimane Peninsula is like the Uyuni Salt Lake in South America, and has become a hot topic in recent years as a “photogenic spot”.
Since Yasugi City had been carrying out the iron-making method of “tatara”, which has been practiced since ancient times, the sediment that flowed from the upper reaches of the river accumulated here at the mouth of the Iinashi River and became the river bed. The flow of the river and the waves of Nakaumi create a huge puddle, and it becomes a water mirror like this.
