Kofun Park with a good view
A nationally designated historic site, centered on the nation’s largest square burial mounds and Tsukiyama burial mounds. The burial mounds from the Yayoi period to the Kofun period are concentrated around Arashima Station.
Of these, four locations, Chusenji, Miyayama, Shiotsuyama, and Tsukuriyama, have been developed as parks. Collectively, it is called the hill of the ancient Izumo king’s mausoleum.
The tomb can be easily visited. Chusenji Park and Miyayama Park have royal tombs from the Yayoi period, while Tsukuriyama Park has four burial mounds, including square burial mounds and keyhole burial mounds.
From the top of the mound, which is about 50m above sea level, you can see Nakaumi as well as the Shimane Peninsula in the distance.
The flowers and autumn leaves are at their best in each season, so many locals come here for hiking.
