Infomation

Traditional indigo dyeing that has continued for 150 years in the streets of Hirose
Founded from the end of the Edo period to the beginning of the Meiji era, this is a dyeing shop that has been doing yarn dyeing for over 150 years in the elegant townscape of Hirose. In 1824 (Bunsei 7), Sadako Nagaoka returned to Yonago after being taught how to dye and weave Kasuri, and since then Hirose has prospered as the home of Hirose Kasuri.
At its peak, there were many konya, but the dyeing industry declined after the war. Amano Konya is currently the only Konya in Hirose, and continues to protect the indigo of Hirose Kasuri using the same techniques that have been passed down from generation to generation.
Hirose Kasuri is carefully woven by hand, and is characterized by its firm, high-quality construction and unique patterns. At Amano Konya, in addition to the traditional Hirose Kasuri, we create a variety of other products and promote the new appeal of indigo dyeing.
