A museum dedicated to a painter who prayed for permanent peace
The Kano Museum of Art was established in 1996 by Kano Kanlei, a Western-style painter from Yasugi City, who was the eldest son.
After the war, Wan Lei launched a petition for the lives of Japanese war criminals in the Philippines, and continued to send 300 petitions to the president of the Philippines and other dignitaries around the world. and developed. Wan Lei’s paintings and his achievements are displayed in the museum, which is useful for children’s peace education.
It also boasts one of the best collections in Japan, including many old Bizen pottery, mainly from the Momoyama period, and works by Living National Treasures. In addition, we display paintings by Chikutaka Ono and Haruka Ikeda, who were active mainly in Okayama, as well as works by local artists. We also hold special exhibitions four times a year, including works by local artists.
The museum is located in a scenic mountain setting, so you can enjoy it in a relaxed manner.
