Streetscape of Mori
Infomation
Hakata-cho, Yasugi-shia
The Mori area is lined with samurai residences from the Edo period, and still retains the atmosphere of a 10,000-koku castle town. Many old houses, merchant houses, and wealthy farmer’s residences remain, mainly along the highway, and the taste of the townscape from the Edo to Meiji period remains strong.
Also, on December 25th every year, a market called “Mori Market” is held, which has been held since the Edo period.
In early April, “Yasugi no Hina Meguri” is held to display the hina dolls that are carefully kept at home in the three districts of the city (Hirose, fube, and Mozato). It is a city where history and tradition are still alive.
