Birthplace of ShikanosukeYukimori Yamanaka
Infomation
Tomita, Hirose Town, Yasugi City
There is a stone monument at the ruins of the Yamanaka residence, which is said to be the birthplace of Shikanosuke Yamanaka.
Born on August 15, 1545 in Shingudani at the northern foot of Mt. gassan.
(There are various theories about Shikanosuke’s birth, and there is also a theory that he was born at the foot of gakuen Temple.)
His father, Yamanaka Mikawanokamimitsuyuki, died the year after Shikanosuke was born, and was raised by his mother alone and became a close samurai of Amago Yoshihisa at the age of 12. He took over the Yamanaka family in place of his sickly brother Jintaro, and inherited a helmet with a deer antler side stand on the crescent moon front stand that has been handed down from generation to generation in the Yamanaka family.
It is said that it is after this that he took the name of Shikanosuke and came to worship the crescent moon.
