It is said that when Shikanosuke Yamanaka, who was defeated in the war during the Warring States period, was defeated in the final battle at Mt. Nube, he jumped down on a horse from Otaki Waterfall, and at that time, his hoof fell into the basin of the waterfall. It was named ‘Hoof Waterfall’ because of the marks left on it. It is also said that Shikanosuke Yamanaka buried treasure in this area.
