“Hanagasa Ritual” to pray for good health

At Nawakuri Shrine, which is known as the guardian deity of cattle and horses, the “Hanagasa Shinji” is held to pray for good health. Bamboo poles with a height of about 2 to 8 meters called kasahoko are brought out from each village, and umbrellas with a diameter of about 1 to 4 meters are attached to them, and umbrella decorations with artificial flowers are gathered in the precincts. It is a heroic Shinto ritual to defeat this and take away the artificial flower, and the flower brought back is given to cattle and horses as a talisman of Nawakuri Shrine, and it is a custom to pray for good health.
