Honmaru
Infomation
Tomita, Hirose Town, Yasugi City, Shimane Prefecture
A 20-meter-wide, 170-meter-long Kuruwa located at the innermost part of the summit. The huge moat between Ninomaru and Honmaru was restored by excavation in the Heisei period. In addition, the ruins of a pillar building have been confirmed in the main enclosure.
The Yamanaka Shikanosuke Yukimori Monument was erected in the Meiji period in memory of Shikanosuke on the ruins of Honmaru. The lettering on the monument was written by Army Major Nobuatsu Kumagai, and the text was written by Mimichi Yamaguchi, a scholar of Chinese classics. Both are from Shimane Prefecture.
In autumn, the three giant maple trees delight the eyes of visitors.
